[info]karmaresorts

Karma Kandara Resort is excited to announce that we have the soul legend Julie McKnight blasting out her vocals at Nammos Beach Club on Sunday 23rd August from 8pm till late. Her vocals have been described as soulful, big, powerful and deep as the ocean tones. When you hear her sing, you not only hear the song but you feel it and experience every note.

Providing soul stirring lead vocals on the back to back anthems, "Finally, "Home" and "Diamond Life." All produced and penned by maestro Jay "Sinister" Sealee , Julie's musical background is as diverse as music itself.
Born in 1972 in Pottstown, PA, Julie McKnight is a daughter of a Seventh-Day Adventist Minister. Julie's musical influences begins with her mother Saundra Brooks, who performed at the age of 19 at the Apollo Theatre in New York City after being coerced by her father, Norris Turney, a multi-reed player and member of Duke Ellington's Orchestra. Aretha Franklin may have won that night but Saundra Brooks brought the house down with her rendition of "What A Wonderful World."

Having moved to Los Angeles in the 80's, Julie's charismatic father, Victor Sr., welcomed people of all faiths and backgrounds into their home. During this time, Julie and her family formed lasting relationships with some of the greatest in music history. Some of these legendary artists include: Jazz Singer and Entertainer Extraordinaire, Nancy Wilson, The Original King of Rock and Roll, Little Richard, Nina Simone and Tony-Award Winning Actor, Singer and Songwriter, Clifton Davis. All of whom have given Julie valuable advise, support and guidance when it comes to maneuvering through the business of entertainment on your our terms.

Julie has collaborated with, and supplied guest vocals for the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, The Emotions, and her former husband, Brian McKnight. Coming into her own in the late 90's, Julie, herself would let her own star shine bright enjoying a variety of accolades to include, winning honors for "Finally" the 2001 MTV2 Dancestar Music Awards Song of the Year, Best vocalist, and Best live PA nominations 2005 Dance Music Awards. Julie has brought down the house performing at the majority of the world's hottest stages, festivals and nightclubs spanning from N.Y. and San Francisco to the Isle of Ibiza. In addition, Julie's versatility as a vocal stylist was also put on the frontline this year while touring with her elder sibling, Victor Brooks, Jr., composer and vocalist for his own brazilian world music oriented CD, "Samba Soul",as well as lending her talents to Ze Ricardo and his band in Brazil respectively.

Julie is currently working own her first solo project set for release in 2008. Providing lead vocal on the Jay Omega produced smash lead single "COMPLICATED" an urban pop stormer with metal overtones, destined for high placement on the pop/rnb/urban charts worldwide, the sky is the limit. With her love for all types of music genres, we can only anticipate that the best is yet to come.

Karma Kandara win Asia - Pacific Property Award
[info]karmaresorts
Karma Kandara Resort has won an award for ‘Best Development in Indonesia’ at this year’s Asia Pacific Property Awards which were announced last week at a special event in Singapore. The Asia Pacific Property Awards 2009 is part of the International Property Awards which was established 15 years ago. As the world’s most prestigious competition, it seeks out the best real estate professionals across the globe.

Later this year, top scoring winners from the Asia Pacific Property Awards will compete against other winning companies from Europe, the UK, Africa, the Americas and Arabia to find the ultimate World’s Best in each category. Last year, the Asia Pacific region scooped no less than five World’s Best awards – an amazing feat and one which the property industry will be watching with interest to see if it can be matched or possibly even beaten in 2009.

Stuart Shield, organizer of the Property Awards, says, “These awards not only draw the most dynamic companies to participate, they also help identify those in the strongest position to lead the recovery in this important business sector. This year we gave all our winners a platform to meet and network with each other and this was an important step. It allowed those who had been successful to share their ideas and make new business contacts.

“It was worth all the effort to see how positive and energetic an attitude everyone who participated took. Considering the market and that the event ran from 9am to midnight, it was no less than amazing.”

Wine Women and Song!!! - Let the bubbles make you dance!
[info]karmaresorts
As part of its landmark wine series, Karma Kandara presents a celebration of French champagne.

Karma Resorts wine curator, Maria Lurighi, will take us on a fascinating journey through the process of making this temperamental wine and also share some of the stories of this appellation and its history, and of course there will be some surprises.

The selection of French Champagne from the grand houses of Veuve Cliqot, Jacquessin, Billecart and Cattier will be presented with a delectable menu by Chef Raymond Saja and will feature amongst other things citrus cured salmon, carnoli risotto, roastedscallops, and olive poached loin of lamb.

We share champagne to launch ships, on new years eve or on special occasions to celebrate life itself! . This very special evening will give insight in to one of the most fascinating stories in the wine world, and why women in particular have played such an important role in the launching of this wonderful drink!

Let the bubbles make you dance.... dinner includes complimentary entry to the Nammos Beach Bar where the Karma Resorts sponsored DJ Tools competition winners will be strutting their stuff on the decks 'til late.

Tips on creating good Karma
[info]karmaresorts
In his teachings His Holiness The Dalai Lama offers instructions on how to create good karma in life. Reading through them reminds us of both the challenges life evokes and the simple ways in which we can learn to create positive vibes around us in everyday life.

“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.”

At Karma Resorts we’d definitely advocate that. We currently have three resorts across Indonesia and Thailand and try to offer our guests a tailored stay in each destination. Providing holidaymakers with unique experiences is at the forefront of Karma’s philosophy.

“Be gentle with the earth.”

By 2010 every Karma Spa aims to be a mostly chemical-free environment inclusive of organic linens & uniforms, amenities and cleaning fluids. Karma Resort’s commitment to local and sustainable ingredients is revealed through a boutique collection of organic spa products. The live kelp ritual treatments, for instance, are made from fresh kelp seaweed farmed from Karma Kandara’s shores & blended on site.

“Spend some time alone every day.”

There’s always a peaceful corner at Karma to curl up in and relax. Whether that be inside a spa shack at Karma Kandara (perched Cliffside against the sounds of the Indian Ocean) or within a private villa at Karma Samui, which itself is nestled inside a peaceful cove.

Warren Mead opens Karma Jimbaran
[info]karmaresorts
After experiencing all the ‘snakes and ladders’ of life as a restaurateur in Western Australia with series of ‘Black Toms’ restaurants, Warren Mead packed his bags and headed for our sandy Balinese shores to Jimbaran Bay’s Karma Jimbaran Resort.

Enlisting the expert assistance of Bali based Food and Beverage Consultant Andreas Hoffmann, Warren set about transforming the restaurant at Karma Jimbaran resort into something quite unique.

A chic new poolside restaurant has emerged complete with oyster lounge and musical accompaniment from a baby grand piano. Also featuring is a beautifully appointed wine room that will feature Australian wines from Leeuwin Estate, Brookland Valley, Pierro, Mosswood, Sandleford, Salitage amongst others.

Warren decided to stamp his well-known surname onto the new restaurant and so ‘Mead’s at Karma’ was born. We asked Warren what is important to him when running a restaurant within a resort;” My 24/7 promise to guests is to personally be responsible for quality, price balance, service that’s crisp with friendly fluid movement and food you will definitely enjoy and want to come back and enjoy again.”

‘Mead’s at Karma’ Jimbaran is now open for bookings. We’ll let the man behind the name sum it up best “ Have some cocktails, tapas, a game of pool, tell a few lies, it’s just the most unique open space of all time; the finishes are all in white so don’t wear a black shirt, enjoy oysters from South Australia with toppings, you will just love.”
